Spring warm palette and colors that suit
What to look at when actually buying something as a spring warm. Eight colors, the makeup direction, and what this season's character is.
The light, clear end of the warm, yellow-cast colors. Muddied color pulls the face down with it, while clear bright color brings life to it. This is the lightest of the four, so warm browns sit more gently than hard black.

The hex codes here are values we picked to show each color family on screen. They are not any company's color chart or an official standard, and another studio's "coral" is a different value. Use them for direction rather than for specifying an exact color, and bear in mind that every screen renders color differently.
Direction to look in
- Lip
- Coral and apricot shades. Clear and bright works; a very deep burgundy tends to weigh the face down.
- Blush
- Apricot and soft coral, the family usually called peach.
- Base
- An ivory base with a little yellow in it. A grey-cast base can read sallow.
- Metal and jewellery
- Gold, especially polished yellow gold.
- Clothes
- Ivory, camel, soft coral. For white, ivory brightens the face more than pure white.
- Directions that may suit you less
- Strongly grey-cast colors, hard black, and muddied tones. Not a ban: it means they do less for you near the face, on a top or a scarf, and matter much less as trousers or a bag.
This result is a self-test for reference
This result is a self-test meant as a reference, and it may differ from a professional in-person analysis (draping). Draping holds real fabric under the face one piece at a time, which reveals more than a questionnaire can. The questions have their own limits too: the colors your screen renders, the light you are sitting in, even a bad night's sleep showing in your face all end up in the answers. Before buying makeup, trying it on your own skin in the shop is still the better way to choose.
