Winter cool palette and colors that suit
What to look at when actually buying something as a winter cool. Eight colors, the makeup direction, and what this season's character is.
The deep, clear end of the cool, blue-cast colors. This season carries pure white and true black better than any of the others, while a muddy mid-tone actually blurs the face. Many people here have a sharp contrast within the face.

The hex codes here are values we picked to show each color family on screen. They are not any company's color chart or an official standard, and another studio's "coral" is a different value. Use them for direction rather than for specifying an exact color, and bear in mind that every screen renders color differently.
Direction to look in
- Lip
- Blue-cast reds, magenta pink, and plum. An orange-cast coral tends to read separately from the skin.
- Blush
- Cool pink and plum, applied sparingly.
- Base
- A pink-cast or near-neutral base. A strongly yellow one can make the face read separately.
- Metal and jewellery
- Polished silver, platinum, white gold.
- Clothes
- Decisive colors: pure white, black, royal blue. Muddy mid-tones blur the face.
- Directions that may suit you less
- Orange-cast beige, mustard, and subdued olive, near the face.
This result is a self-test for reference
This result is a self-test meant as a reference, and it may differ from a professional in-person analysis (draping). Draping holds real fabric under the face one piece at a time, which reveals more than a questionnaire can. The questions have their own limits too: the colors your screen renders, the light you are sitting in, even a bad night's sleep showing in your face all end up in the answers. Before buying makeup, trying it on your own skin in the shop is still the better way to choose.
